Results use standard contract sizes (100,000 units per lot for currency pairs, 100 ounces for gold). Brokers can use different contract sizes, so check your broker's contract specifications.
Pip value = units traded × pip size, in the quote currency, then converted to your account currency.

Knowing the pip value tells you exactly how much money a price move means for your position, before you open the trade.
On USD/JPY the quote currency is the yen, so a pip is first worth a fixed amount of yen, which is then converted to your account currency at the current rate.
